M.A. in Political Science
- How To Apply
At the initial stage the University introduced the two year M.A. programme in the academic year 2002-2003 in the following disciplines : Assamese Economics, Sociology, History, Political Science and Mathematics. However, at present M.A. in History Programme has been kept in abeyance. M.A. in English has been introduced from the session 2008-2009. Now from this academic session, 2012-13, the Directorate is going to introduce M.A. in Education through distance mode.
Graduates under Three Year Degree Course from any recognized University having Major (Honours) or General (core) courses may apply for admission into M.A. programmes offered by the Directorate of Distance Education, D.U. For M.A. in Mathematics, the candidate should have Mathematics as a paper in the Bachelor Degree level.
Syllabus for M.A. (Previous Year) in Political Science

M.A. Course in Political Science for Distance Education is designed to meet the requirements of MA Previous and Final where there will be 6+6 compulsory courses in MA Previous and Final respectively. Major areas of study are Political Theory, International Relations, Government and Politics and Public Administration. The Syllabus is prepared in keeping with the UGC and IGNOU Model of curriculum and it aims at providing a wide range of knowledge in Political Science including the most recent development, in theory and practice of the discipline.
The Syllabus for MA Distance Education in Political Science for each course is shown in Blocks subdivided into Units. Marks allotted for each paper are External Evaluation 80% and Internal Evaluation 20% i.e.100 marks for each paper.

Application for admission to MA/M.Sc.(Mathematics).,M.Com. and other programmes are invited usually in the month of May / June. Candidates are to apply in prescribed form only. Application form along with the prospectus can be obtained from any of the study centers under the Directorate of Distance Education, Dibrugarh University on payment of Rs.200/- in cash or Bank draft drawn on State Bank of India, Dibrugarh University Branch (Code No. 2051) in favour of Distance Education Fund, Dibrugarh University.
Forms can also be obtained by sending a bank draft of Rs.200/- along with a self addressed stamped (Rs.35/-) envelope of 12” x 8” size to the Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh-786004. Forms downloaded from the website www.ddedu.org shall also be accepted provided it is submitted along with a bank draft of Rs.200/- as mentioned above. The forms are also available in different Contact Centres under Directorate of Distance Education, D.U.
